and Parent Participation Preschool
Elk Grove Unified has several programs that help 3½ and 4-year old children get ready for kindergarten. The programs are funded from different sources and their requirements vary.

They also receive health follow-up, have healthy meals and snacks and enjoy playing outdoors in a safe setting. Head Start helps all children succeed. Services are offered to meet the special needs of children with disabilities. Classes are in session 3.5 hours per day, Monday through Thursday.
State Preschool/Assembly Bill 172
California’s State Preschool income-eligible program is a state funded program serving 4-year-old children. State Preschool classrooms focus on preparing children for kindergarten and assuring they will be ready for the first grade. Classes are in session three hours per day, Monday through Friday.
