- Elementary school students will have the chance to win gift certificates from Mimi’s Cafe, Crocker Art Museum and Fairytale Town and free hot chocolate from Port City Java;
- Middle school students will have the opportunity to win gift cards to Baskin Robbins, Dimple Records and Office Depot; and
- High school students could win a gift card to Dimple Records, miniature golf passes to Golfland SunSplash and SuperSaver Fun Packs – including free miniature golf, two free rides and 5 game tokens – to Scandia Family Fun Center.

In addition to the monthly prizes given away each month, high school seniors have just three more opportunities to get their name entered into a raffle for the 2008/2009 Elk Grove Auto Mall Graduating Seniors Attendance Drive to earn $20,000 towards the purchase of a new vehicle. In order to qualify, graduating seniors must have perfect attendance in all their classes for a calendar month. To find out more about the attendance drive - click here.

Research demonstrates that students with strong school attendance habits do better academically and have a more positive school experience. For every day a student misses school, students can fall two days behind in their schoolwork.
In these tough economic times, school attendance becomes even more critical. School attendance directly impacts state funding of school districts. For every day a student misses school (even for excused absences), the Elk Grove Unified School District loses $37 in state funding.

For the past three years, the Elk Grove Unified School District has offered the No Excuses – Go to School attendance campaign. In 2006-2007 the district’s overall attendance showed an increase that equated to $864,000 in additional state revenue to EGUSD. In 2007-2008 the district’s overall attendance resulted in $311,249 in additional state revenue.
The attendance campaign seeks to remind students, staff and parents about the importance of school attendance through a variety of tools. These include monthly incentives, posters, flyers, newsletter articles and announcements.
The district’s Communications Department is asking the community for their input and suggestions about improving the campaign in 2009-2010. Please take a few minutes and fill out the online survey.
